Tom Baker is for many fans the quintessential Doctor, having presided over the TARDIS for the longest continual stretch in the show’s history, leaving an indelible mark (he was, after all, the only of the older Doctors asked back for the 50th anniversary special). But how does his seven-year reign stand up against his more recent successors in terms of actual time, episodes and storylines?
