TV-land is a transient place. One week you’re beloved the world over, pulling in record-breaking ratings, pleasing the critics and churning out premium merchandise. The next? Your series’ DVD is in the bargain bin.

But there are plenty of shows which have proven you can claw your way back from cancellation. And with rumours flying around of an X-Files and Prison Break revival, we decided it was time to take a look at the show’s that have come back with a vengeance second time around…


Counter Terrorist Agent Jack Bauer first burst onto our TV screens in 2001, before spending eight harrowing days trying to save America from harm. Fox called time on the show in 2010, with star Kiefer Sutherland saying: “While the end of the series is bittersweet, we always wanted 24 to finish on a high note, so the decision to make the eighth season our last was one we all agreed upon.”

Just four years later, after a planned movie failed to materialise, duty called once again and Jack was back, this time in London. 24’s return as 24: Live Another Day was met with positive reviews from critics and fans. And rumour would have it Fox are now discussing the possibility of bringing the franchise back for yet another run…
