Fifty Shades of Shakespeare: Dakota Johnson swaps the bedroom for the Bard

The Fifty Shades of Grey star is poised to play Imogen alongside Ethan Hawke, Ed Harris and Penn Badgley in a dark modern take on William Shakespeare's Cymbeline

Fifty Shades of Grey star Dakota Johnson is swapping x-rated bedroom behaviour with Jamie Dornan’s Christian Grey for crime and corruption in a big screen adaptation of Shakespeare’s Cymbeline.

The 25-year-old actress, who plays Anastasia Steele in the much-anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey film, is poised to star alongside Ethan Hawke, Ed Harris and Gossip Girls’ Penn Badgley in Anarchy.

Directed by Michael Almereyda, who also worked with Hawke in Hamlet back in 2000, Anarchy is a gritty, modern-day version of Shakespeare’s tragedy, following corrupt cops and an biker gang. Johnson plays Imogen, Cymbeline’s daughter, with Badgley playing her lover Posthumus.
