Is Celebrity Love Island being revamped?

ITV might be reviving the reality show that paired up single celebrities – but this time they'll eye up ordinary members of the public

ITV is rumoured to be working on a revamped format of reality show Celebrity Love Island, which packed single celebrities off to a sunny island in the hope they’d find love.

For two series in 2005 and 2006, viewers voted their favourite celebrity couples into a ‘love shack’ where they could see if they hit it off – a sort of Take Me Out meets Ex on the Beach.

Presenter Jayne Middlemiss and former Westlife bodyguard Fran Cosgrave won the original series, with model Abi Titmuss, Atomic Kitten’s Liz McClarnon and model (and current Celebrity Big Brother housemate) Calum Best also among the island dwellers.

The island is being ditched, according to the Daily Star, with the new series to be based in a European resort and named, fittingly, The Resort.

Plus, rather than set single celebrities eyeing up each other, the show is apparently going to pair up the stars with us regular single folk in the hope that sparks will fly.
