Monday nights are set to be a ratings battlefield in the coming weeks as ITV’s crime drama Broadchurch lines up against BBC1’s Silent Witness and Channel 5’s Celebrity Big Brother.
Broadchurch came out top in the fiercely contested 9pm slot last night, with episode two drawing 5.56 million viewers. BBC1’s Silent Witness ran the ITV drama close, however, notching up 5.49 million viewers.
Celebrity Big Brother on Channel 5 was watched by 1.97 million people, while BBC2’s Horizon special on dieting and Channel 4’s The Undateables were watched by 1.87 million by 1.64 million viewers respectively.
Including ITV +1 viewers, Broadchurch ratings rose to 6.11 million, but that was still 1.5 million viewers down on the series two opener on Monday 5 January.
The decision to run Silent Witness and Broadchurch in the same time slot was met with disappointment with some viewers on Twitter.
Others however had advice on how to overcome the schedule clash…
