Director Neill Blomkamp has revealed amazing plans for an Alien movie sequel that sadly seems will never happen.
The District 9 director posted some of the artwork he had been working on for an apparent Alien sequel on Instagram. It’s unclear whether this was an actual commissioned piece of work or just Blomkamp’s pet project, but the idea looks – for now – like it will go no further than these gorgeous designs.
“Was working on this. Don’t think I am anymore. Love it though,” Blomkamp posted, along with an image of what his Alien might have looked like. Another image caption added, “Woulda rocked. Was a mental stroll into the world Ridley Scott created.”
The mocked-up photos include original star Sigourney Weaver and her Aliens co-star Michael Biehn.

A day after posting these first images, Blomkamp posted more Alien-inspired artwork from other designers, signing off by saying, “Maybe I’ll go back to it… love the world.”
