EastEnders spoilers: Charlie Cotton struggles to bond with his newborn son – first look pictures

Nick tries to help the situation in scenes to be shown next week - but will Charlie acknowledge his baby boy?

Charlie Cotton (Declan Bennett) is to struggle to bond with his newborn son as wife Ronnie (Samantha Womack) remains on the critical list during next week’s episodes of EastEnders.

But help is to come from an unexpected quarter when Nick (John Altman), the man who unbeknownst to Charlie caused the crash that put Ronnie in a coma, helps the pair bond.

In scenes to be shown on Thursday 8 January, a distraught Charlie will be seen refusing to acknowledge his son. But Nick tries to ease the situation by taking the baby from Roxy (Rita Simons) and putting him in Charlie’s arms. But with Ronnie yet to regain consciousness, will Charlie be able to connect with his baby son?

Says actor Declan Bennett, “Charlie becomes quite introvert and wants to protect himself because he feels like he can’t do this without Ronnie.

“To see this baby that’s been brought in amidst this horrible scenario is terrifying for him. He’s just really struggling to feel any kind of connection to this child while she’s lying there in a coma.”
