As the adopted daughters of intergalactic warlord Thanos, Gamora (Zoe Saldana) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) take sibling rivalry to a new level. Their brutal fight was one of the most bone-crunching moments in Guardians of the Galaxy’s finale.
Yet – as this exclusive deleted scene shows – it almost kicked off earlier in the movie. The scene shows much more of their relationship than was revealed in the finished edit, and hints at the jealously Nebula feels for Gamora. Maybe she’s always preferred green.
Now now, play nice.
Chloe Bruce is the woman who taught Karen Gillan and Zoe Saldana how to scrap. A world champion marital artist from age 14, and holder of the Guinness world record for most kicks in a minute (212), she was Saldana’s stunt double.
Yes, that means she had to be painted green. “Every day,” she told RadioTimes.com “Four hours every morning.”
Bruce trained with the actresses for their epic fight scene: “It took around four days to shoot and the four of us – the two actors and their stunt doubles – were just at it all day long. We trained so hard for it and I think the results show very well.”
Apparently, the former Doctor Who companion got quite ferocious. “She’s a very sweet girl, a really, really sweet girl, but she definitely knew how to turn it on for the camera,” Bruce explained.
Would you want to meet her down a dark alley? “No! When Karen switches into game mode, especially in the costume, she’s very serious. She can throw a punch!”
Duly noted. If you want to learn how to kick like a world record holder (not to mention the Guardians sisters) Bruce has recorded a special workout video, featured below. It is, frankly, terrifying.
