Terminator: Genisys trailer reveals that “everything’s changed”

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke and Jai Courtney star in the first trailer for The Terminator reboot

Well, he did say that he would be back. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ageing T-800 killing machine stars in the first full-length trailer for Terminator Genisys, the reboot of the hit ’80s franchise.

Following on from yesterday’s blink-and-you’ll-miss-it teaser for the teaser, the trailer gives us our first proper look at Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor and Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese. However, there’s no sign of former Doctor Who star Matt Smith.

For some time, there has been confusion of whether Terminator: Genisys was a reboot, a prequel or a sequel. Well, the trailer reveals that it’s pretty much all of them with the story spinning off 1984’s The Terminator but then – with the aid of a distorted timeline – becoming a whole other story. As Clarke’s Connor says at one point: “everything’s changed,” but as you’ll see, some of Arnie’s beloved catchphrases certainly haven’t.
