Gold-digging Tracy Shankley is set to make a return to Emmerdale in 2015. Series producer Kate Oates revealed at a press conference yesterday that actress Amy Walsh – whose character Tracy tried to fleece Sam Dingle earlier this year – had impressed the soap’s writers so much that she’d been invited back.
“She was supposed to be a character who came in for a couple of months in order to bring Sam back to life after Rachel,” explained Oates. “But the writers and I loved her and thought that she brought a classic soap quality to Emmerdale. So Tracy will return in January. Considering that her first appearance was as someone who worked on sex chat lines and had to befriend Sam Dingle as her best bet, even she has fallen on hard times. I wouldn’t want to be Tracy for all the tea in China!”
Oates also hinted that Walsh wouldn’t be the only returnee to the ITV soap in the near future. Discussing the prospect of another comeback, the series producer said: “There might be another return, but you’ll have to wait and see on that one. I can tell you that you won’t have to wait too long. Very cryptic, eh?”
