We don’t know an awful lot about the Doctor Who Christmas special, other than that the Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and Clara (Jenna Coleman) are reunited at Christmas – just as Santa (Nick Frost) comes to call.
However, we do now know the episode’s title (thanks to the labelling of new promo images) – Last Christmas. Anyone for a Wham! singalong?
Actually, outside of the musical relevance it sounds ominously like the festive period itself may be under threat this year – could the danger have anything to do with the creepy-looking slimy creatures we saw in the episode’s trailer? Or could it be a reference to Jenna Coleman’s rumoured departure from the series (this would be her third Christmas special, and potentially her final one)?
Of course, the title could just refer to the Doctor’s hitherto undisclosed love for festive George Michael numbers – and if the wrapped guitar in the background of this promo image (below) is anything to go by, maybe we’ll even get to see the Time Lord do his own personalized acoustic rendition.
Last Christmas, I gave you two hearts…
Doctor Who: Last Christmas is on BBC1 on Christmas Day (25th December)
