Stevi Ritchie survived last week’s sing-off against Jay James, but he’s certain that this weekend’s double elimination will equal time up for him on The X Factor.
“I’ll be honest with you. I’ll be one of the ones that’s going. I know everyone says you’ve got to be positive, but there’s also being realistic,” Stevi tells RadioTimes.com. “I like to be honest, what you see is what you get. I know I’ll be one of those people that’s going.”
Stevi’s clearly got support from the public, but he says he’s bookies’ favourite to go and last week’s Sunday night result is on his mind.
“I was in the bottom two last week. I’m up against the nitty gritty of the competition now. I’ll be one of those that goes after Saturday and Sunday.
“Ideally, if I was to have a choice, between Saturday night and Sunday night, I’d like to do the sing-off Sunday. Go out with a bang. But who knows. It’s the public’s decision. Either night, I’m going and I do know that. I assure you.”
If he does go, Stevi’s not going quietly though.
“You should see the outfit I’ve got. Brian’s pulled out all of the stops. It’s going to be the performance, I hope, of the year. Much bigger than the Queen night. I’m going to go all out. You’ve not seen nothing yet. If I go out on that, with a bang, then that’s great. But that could be my final X Factor performance.”
Stevi admits last week’s result was a tough one to take, as he found himself up against his “brother” Jay. The pair are so close, they’ve picked up the nickname “Jayvie”.
“I don’t want to get emotional here, but he was like a brother to me. Going in the sing-off with him last week, it was shocking. I didn’t expect him to go. I was prepared to go. I had it in my mind, OK this is it. Then when he went, it was a massive blow, like someone knocked me out. I was crying like a baby.”
