Filming may have finished on the upcoming (and top-secret) Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, but we still have to wait over a year until its release.
However, new rumours have suggested that we might be very close to getting a trailer for the JJ Abrams-directed sequel to George Lucas’ original series – though please note that this is, to quote most American legal dramas, conjecture of the highest degree.
According to BadAssDigest, we could be mere weeks away from seeing footage from the upcoming (and top-secret) Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.
Apparently “sources” claim that a short teaser could be attached to dystopic blockbuster The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part One, which would presumably mean the trailer would air as soon as it’s released this week.
However, it’s considered more likely that the trailer will be shown sometime in the next few weeks on Disney’s (who are making the Star Wars sequel) US channel ABC. Notably, this distribution model was the plan for the trailer of another Disney hot property – Avengers: Age of Ultron – though a leak meant this trailer appeared online first.
The same source also offers some speculation as to what the trailer might include, so if you’re one of those weirdos who likes to experience creativity within its necessary context and as the creators intended, then look away now.
Rumour has it that the teaser will only be a minute long, and see quick flashing reveals of the film’s main characters (including returning stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher) to the musical accompaniment of The Force Theme (see above) on woodwind.
The music then swells to a full orchestral rendition of the music as a female voice (perhaps newcomer Daisy Ridley’s) says “Wake up.” Finally, the title card – and a quick sight of legendary spaceship the Millennium Falcon, guns blazing and headed straight for the camera.
It certainly sounds plausible – but could also be as off-the-mark as a Stormtrooper’s aim. Hopefully we’ll find out the truth soon.
Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens will be released on the 18th December 2015
