Band Aid 30 video debuts on X Factor – the Twitter reaction

X Factor premiered the Band Aid 30 charity video, recorded yesterday in aid of Ebola relief, starring Bono, Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Emeli Sandé, Ellie Goulding, Chris Martin and more tonight. Here's how Twitter reacted

Tonight The X Factor had the world premiere of the new Band Aid 30 charity song featuring Bono, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Rita Ora, Olly Murs Chris Martin, One Direction, Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding and many more.

The video was recorded yesterday to help raise money for Ebola relief in West Africa. It has been thirty years since Bob Geldof and Midge Ure penned Do They Know It’s Christmas? to help the starving of Ethiopia, with the lyrics being changed slightly, to reflect the current cause.

It’s not the first re-imagining of the song, but as ever, the aim stays the same – helping through music.

Sir Bob Geldof, who introduced the video, said, “Thanks Simon for allowing us to do this… the reason they came yesterday, the reason Simon wants you to see this is this thing could arrive on a plane at any time… this is the most anti-human disease… But we will support those immensely brave 1000 NHS doctors and workers… and the government who are leading the world on this.

“iTunes are giving us 100%, tomorrow at 8am, this is about us, it could be here, buy this thing. Don’t get it free. Buy five, buy ten, it’s a great track, it doesn’t have to be, but wait until you see this.

“We’re going to stop this thing, buy this up.”

Here’s how Twitter responded to the debut…
