Lisa Riley, Russell Grant and Louis Smith return for Strictly Come Dancing’s Christmas special

The 2014 festive special will welcome previous contestants - as well as former host Bruce Forsyth - back to the ballroom

Strictly Come Dancing celebrities from across the years are in pursuit of the show’s silver star this yuletide as they head back to the dance floor in the hope of being crowned 2014 Christmas champions.

2012 winner Louis Smith will be showing off his merry moves alongside Lisa Riley and 2013 competitor Sophie Ellis Bextor. 2008 runner-up Rachel Stevens will also return to showcase her festive footwork, as will 2009’s winner Chris Hollins and Strictly favourite Russell Grant, who originally appeared in series nine.

The famous faces will be performing pantomime-inspired routines (oh no they won’t!) and taking on roles from some of the UK’s favourite festive productions, all in the hope of receiving a very special Christmas present: the Strictly silver star trophy.

Bruce Forsyth, who retired at the end of last year’s series, will also return to his hosting duties for the one-off episode alongside Tess Daly.

It will mark the first time former contestants have appeared in the Christmas competition since 2009. In recent years we’ve seen newcomers strap on their dancing shoes for the December episode, with John Barrowman, Charlie Brooks, JB Gill and Rufus Hound all lifting the special trophy.

Although Russell Grant, Chris Hollins and Rachel Stevens are no strangers to festive dances, having previously appeared in an all-star dance during 2012’s Christmas special.

Here’s the full list of this year’s celebrities and their professional partners:

Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Aljaž Skorjanec
