Oxo’s 1984 festive advert starring the late Lynda Bellingham is set to air on TV again this Christmas Day.
The iconic gravy ad will be re-sceened “in memory of [Bellingham’s] life and career” on ITV at a yet-to-be-confirmed time, after “hundreds of thousands” of fans declared it would be a fitting tribute to the beloved celebrity.
“The My Christmas Oxo advert from 1984, starring much-loved actress Lynda Bellingham, will be re-screened on Christmas Day in memory of her life and career,” reads a statment from Premier Foods, who own Oxo.
“Over the past few weeks, hundreds of thousands of Lynda’s fans have rallied behind a call for the return of the ad as a fitting tribute for all the inspiring things she achieved during her career,” they continued.
Bellingham passed away last month after being diagnosed with terminal cancer. The 66-year-old star, who is also known for appearing on Loose Women, revealed plans to end her treatment in September. She died on 19th October.
In interviews before her death, Bellingham had talked of her desire to spend one last Christmas with her family.
