Kit Harington endures heartbreak in new Testament of Youth trailer

The Game of Thrones actor is swapping high fantasy for wartime suffering as Vera Brittain's fiancé Roland Leighton

Kit Harington swaps the snow-capped mountains of Westeros for the trenches of the First World War in the latest trailer for Testament of Youth.

The Game of Thrones actor and Alicia Vikander star in the moving two minute clip as Vera Brittain and her fiance, poet and soldier Roland Leighton.

The trailer sees Roland (a well-to-do and clean-cut Harington) meet and fall for Vera Brittain, before the Great War changes the course of their lives.

“Life, love and you. Think what they have meant to me,” Harington can be heard saying over footage from the film. “Let’s agree. No more fear.”

Published in 1933, Brittain’s Testament of Youth is the first instalment of her memoirs, recording her experiences during the war. The film will also star Emily Watson, Hayley Atwell, Colin Morgan, Alexandra Roach, Anna Chancellor, Dominic West and Miranda Richardson.

Testament of Youth will be in UK cinemas on 16th January 2015
