Pay close attention to ITV on Sunday and you may have spotted some familiar-looking gloomy waves and looming cliffs. Of course, it’s not any old coastline – it’s the setting of Broadchurch. Remember? The TV series that captured our imagination for eight nail-biting weeks last year before sweeping the board at multiple award ceremonies. It’s back.
True to form, creator Chris Chibnall is giving nothing away as the camera pans the waves in each of the two teasers. Both are accompanied by the phrase “The end is where is begins” which suggests the second series is to pick up where we left off – at the moment Danny Latimer’s family hold his funeral following Joe Miller’s admission of guilt.
While we’ve still got no start date for Broadchurch series two – and a maddening lack of plot – we do know that the drama’s return will see all the main cast members reprise their roles, including David Tennant, Olivia Colman, Arthur Darvill, Jodie Whittaker, Andrew Buchan and more.
They will be joined by new additions Charlotte Rampling, Eve Myles, James D’Arcy, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Meera Syal. We can’t wait…
