Lauren Platt may have started out in the competition aged just 16, but she immediately stamped her mark on the show. “100% yes Lauren,” Cowell told her after she wowed with this performance of Queen Latifah’s I Know Where I Have Been.
Onto the arena and it was clear Lauren meant business, performing her own rendition of Whitney Houston’s How Will I Know. Only for the brave, eh?
Not content with doing Houston justice, Platt moved on to Michael Jackson’s Man In The Mirror for Boot Camp. That chair had her name written all over it.
A quick flight over to Nice in France for Judges’ Houses where Lauren performed Labrinth’s Beneath Your Beautiful for girls’ mentor Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and her guest judge Tinie Tempah. Cheryl had an artist ready and raring to go.
Onto the live shows and there seems to be no stopping Lauren. She managed to pull off her own version of Pharrell’s Happy, even charting on iTunes as people flocked to download it. Pharrell himself complimented the young singer on her arrangement of the world-famous track.
This weekend it’s a return to Michael Jackson as Platt takes on I’ll Be There. I bargain where she’ll be is far away from the sing-off.
The X Factor continues Saturday and Sunday at 8:00pm on ITV
