The singer formerly known as Cheryl Cole shocked the nation earlier this year when she announced her wedding to French businessman Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini.
But while we’ve come to terms with her sudden nuptials, The X Factor judge has admitted that it’s taken a while for some to get used to her new double-barrelled moniker, adding that many people just call her Cheryl for the sake of convenience.
“People are so ignorant about it, they just start calling us Cheryl, but I’ll take that, whatever,” she tells this month’s Marie Claire magazine about the name change.
The former Girls Aloud singer changed her surname to Cheryl Fernandez-Versini after secretly marrying the Frenchman in July following just three months of dating. They wed on the island of Mustique on 7th July in front of just four guests, said to include her mother and her PA Lily England.
The singer also changed her name on Twitter from @CherylCole to @CherylOfficial, finally dropping her former husband Ashley Cole’s surname four years after their divorce.
