You’d probably already noticed that Death is a pretty big theme in the Doctor Who series eight finale – we had deluxe tombs, screaming autopsies, a sci-fi afterlife and more in last week’s particularly morbid episode.
And yet judging by new pictures from this week’s concluding episode, the grim theme has only just begun. Yay!
Yup, that is a graveyard that the Doctor (Peter Capaldi), the Cyberman and an irate Missy (Michelle Gomez) are hanging out in – do the recently-dead Cybermen just find it homey, or is there another reason for them to be there? And should we be worried that Clara (Jenna Coleman) and Danny (Samuel Anderson) are nowhere to be seen?
We also witness the return of UNIT double act Kate Stewart (Jemma Redgrave) and Osgood (Ingrid Oliver), from 50th anniversary special The Day of the Doctor – though it’s clear Osgood has moved on from wearing the Fourth Doctor’s (Tom Baker) scarf to a more recent Time Lord-inspired look. Hey, we’re not judging – bow ties are cool.
The presence of UNIT also ties in to a first glimpse of Sanjeev Bhaskar‘s character, who appears to be a high-ranking member of the military – maybe we’ll get to see a response to the Cyber-invasion apart from selfies after all…
