X Factor’s Jack Walton: “the song choice was not something I would usually do”

"I just went with it," says Jack of his Bleeding Love Halloween performance as part of Mel B's boys' category

Mel B’s wildcard Jack Walton was voted out during Saturday’s X Factor after a surprise extra elimination was added for the Halloween weekend. But the singer from Leeds admits he followed direction rather thank sticking to his own style.

“I’ve really enjoyed it, the whole thing’s been really good, but the song choice for me was not something I would usually do,” Jack told This Morning’s Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden of his cover of Leona Lewis’ Bleeding Love.

“When you come into a show like this and you’re surrounded by so many successful people and people that know what they’re talking about, that’s what you think as soon as you meet them: ‘I’d best listen to whatever you say and that’s the best thing’. But I don’t think that’s the case really, you’ve got to be true to yourself. But I just went with it,” he adds.

One Direction star Louis Tomlinson, who appears to be spending a lot of time backstage with the acts (a potential judge next year?!) appears to agree, telling his Twitter followers:

But Jack himself remains confident about the future.

The X Factor continues next Saturday and Sunday where Louis himself will be seen performing with the One Direction lads during the results show.
