Paddington Bears designed by Benedict Cumberbatch, Peter Capaldi and Emma Watson hit London streets

Ahead of the release of Paddington in cinemas this month, famous faces including Boris Johnson, Hugh Bonneville, Nicole Kidman and more have designed statues of the marmalade-loving bear

Paddington Bear is enjoying something of a renaissance. The furry, marmalade-loving visitor to London’s Paddington station – all the way from deepest, darkest Peru – is the subject of a new feature film hitting cinemas this November, starring Hugh Bonneville, Nicole Kidman, Julie Walters, Peter Capaldi, Ben Whishaw and more.

But first, Paddington is set to become a fixture of the streets of London over the next few weeks after a newly-commissioned series of statues take their place across the capitals landmarks, from the Royal Opera House to Horse Guards Parade, Selfridges and, of course, Paddington station.

The stars of the film have all put their stamp on individual figures, as have actors Benedict Cumberbatch, Emma Watson and Michael Sheen, plus London Mayor Boris Johnson, David Beckham and Stephen Fry.

For a selection of the fifty bears going on display from tomorrow (4th November), including Sherlock and Doctor Who-themed creations (can you guess who designed those?), take a look at the gallery below…

Paddington is released in UK cinemas on 28th November. Check out the trailer below:
