Topshop will be working up a sweat with Beyonce as the high-street fashion label joins forces with the US star to create a new collection of active clothing.
Beyonce has set up a partnership with Topshop to create “athletic streetwear” in time for autumn next year. The collection will include clothes, shoes and fitness and dance accessories.
“I have always loved Topshop for their fashion credentials and forward thinking,” said Beyonce. “Working with their development team to create and produce a technical and fashion led collection is exciting and I’m looking forward to participating in all aspects of this partnership.”
Topshop owner Sir Philip Green claimed this “partnership” was different to other celebrity fashion lines: “This not a collaboration,” he said. “This is about building a brand and building a business — a separate, proper business, with separate overhead and a separate office.”
Kate Moss is a regular collaborator with the high street brand, but this is the first time Beyonce has worked on creating a celebrity fashion line.
Victoria Beckham, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen have all had success branching out into the world of fashion, while Beyonce’s husband Jay Z has his own urban fashion label Rocawear.
