EastEnders looks set to revive Cindy Beale, Kathy Mitchell, Pat Evans and Lucy Beale for a special sketch to be broadcast on Children in Need night.
Michelle Collins, Gillian Taylforth, Pam St Clement and Hetti Bywater are all reportedly returning to haunt Adam Woodyatt’s Ian Beale during the BBC’s charity extravaganza, which will air on Friday 14 November.
A source told The Sun today: “We are getting some of the show’s most iconic names back for one night only. It’s going to be historic.
“All the characters have a link to Ian Beale and they are going to come back to haunt him in scenes that will feature his past and present. This is going to be an absolute must-watch evening of TV for any EastEnders fan.”
The news follows a tweet made by executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins, who posted a picture of Michelle Collins with actor Ben Hardy – who plays Ian and Cindy’s son Peter – along with a message hinting at some spectral fun for Children in Need:
The show will also feature the cast of the soap in a musical performance that will transform the Square. This isn’t, of course, the first time that EastEnders has featured on Children in Need – past highlights include a 2010 crossover mini-episode with Coronation Street and a Bollywood version of Daft Punk’s Get Lucky in 2013.
As well as the contingent from Albert Square, this year’s Children in Need will also see Tom and Jerry starring in a specially made cartoon, contributions from Doctor Who and Call the Midwife, plus Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes joining Terry Wogan, Tess Daly, Fearne Cotton and Nick Grimshaw on the presenting team.
