FURY ★★★★

Fast and furious Second World War drama, with Brad Pitt leading a tank crew into battle. His men on a mission include Logan Lerman and Shia LaBeouf, in an intense experience from writer/director David Ayer (End of Watch).

THE JUDGE ★★★

Robert Downey Jr hangs up his superhero suit (for now) to play a slick lawyer who defends his father – Robert Duvall as the titular judge – in court. The film boasts as much charm and smarts as Downey Jr’s character.

NORTHERN SOUL ★★★★

Get your talc ready for this head-spinningly good 1970s-set tale of two mates who dream of making it big as DJs on the Northern Soul club scene. The soundtrack is, unsurprisingly, a corker.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES ★★★

Turtle power! The reptiles-with-attitude are back fighting crime on the big screen, with Megan Fox and Will Arnett among their human helpers.

THE BEST OF ME

Another day, another Nicholas Sparks adaptation. But this is no Dear John or The Notebook, instead it’s a disappointing pile of mush, with James Marsden and Michelle Monaghan as reunited childhood sweethearts.

LOVE, ROSIE ★★

Sam Claflin and Lily Collins play will-they-won’t-they lovers in a romcom that’s heavy on the schmaltz and light on real emotion.
