Mrs Brown’s Boys star Jennifer Gibney has become the second star to leave Strictly Come Dancing.
Like last week, Jennifer and her partner Tristan McManus had to face the dreaded dance-off this Sunday. Unlike last week, this time the judges decided not to save them.
Jennifer and Tristan’s Mamma Mia-inspired foxtrot wasn’t enough to see them through Strictly’s movie week special, but the Mrs Brown’s Boys actress said her partner Tristan was now “one of the family”.
“Before this, I didn’t know how to dance,” Jennifer said. “I wanted to learn how to dance and I now know how to jive, how to waltz and how to foxtrot, however badly! I’ve learned three dances and I’ve had a great time with Tristan. He is one of the family and he will remain one of the family.”
Who knows, maybe that means we’ll see the Irish dancer making a special Mrs Brown’s Boys appearance? Jennifer’s husband Brendan O’Carroll would certainly enjoy introducing Tristan to dear old Mrs Brown.
Simon Webbe was the surprise celebrity in the bottom two this week, but all five judges, including guest judge Donny Osmond, said they would have saved the Blue band member after he channelled Tom Cruise for his Top Gun rumba.
Tristan was full of praise for his partner Jennifer despite their early exit from the competition. “Jenny tried her best. She made every day that I’ve known her so far as enjoyable as the next,” he said. “I hope she’s not telling lies now and she will talk to me after tonight!
“It’s been a pleasure to get to know you and your family,” he told her.
