Peter Capaldi and former Doctor Who companion Katy Manning recreate Jon Pertwee moment in the Tardis

The actress best known as Jo Grant enjoyed a visit to the set of Doctor Who to share some special moments with “one of the most charming men I’ve ever met”

Space and time folded back on themselves this week as former Doctor Who companion Jo Grant – aka actress Katy Manning – visited the set of Doctor Who to recreate an iconic image from the classic series with new Doctor Peter Capaldi.

Manning and Capaldi’s dramatic pose in front of the Tardis console echoed one from her tenure alongside third Doctor Jon Pertwee – right down to the Time Lord’s red-lined coat.

Judging by her Twitter feed, Manning loved every minute of her day out – “a wonder visit to a familiar place that always smells the same!” – and especially relished the chance to get up close and personal with Capaldi…

She also had compliments for current companion Jenna Coleman, who she said she “loved” as Clara Oswald, adding that The Impossible Girl was “impossibly pretty on screen and impossibly pretty off”.

The perks of being a former companion didn’t end with the visit, either. Manning was treated to a sneak peek at the upcoming Christmas special, which she said “I know is going to be the best Xmas DW special!”
