Lauren Platt has made it through to this year’s Boot Camp stage of The X Factor, which means this weekend she faces more auditions in front of judges Simon Cowell, Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, Mel B and Louis Walsh. While traditionally acts tend to be dread what Mr Cowell might have to say, it’s former Spice Girl Mel B that Platt is worried about.
“Simon was really, really nice. I wasn’t as scared of him as I was of Mel B,” Platt tells RadioTimes.com ahead of her Boot Camp audition.
“I know why they call her Scary Spice,” she adds.
She seemed to win the former Spice Girl over during her arena audition, however. Platt sang her own version of Whitney Houston’s How Will I Know and Mel B got so excited she said she could “slap” Lauren for being so good.
In fact, Platt is pretty blooming chuffed with all of her comments so far.
“I couldn’t have paid them [the judges] to give me better comments. They were really, really great.
“Simon was really, really, lovely. He’s honest, which is all you want. You don’t want someone to say you’re really good when in actual fact, you could work harder and you could do better.”
At just sixteen, Lauren is hoping the judges don’t tell her she’s not ready for the competition.
“When you feel ready, you know you’re ready. They haven’t said it so far, so hopefully they don’t think it.”
