Brucie might have left the dancefloor, but another showbusiness veteran is set to pop into the Strictly Come Dancing studios this autumn in the form of Donny Osmond.
Yup, the ‘Puppy Love’ singer and former teen idol will be joining the Strictly judges for an upcoming episode of the BBC1 dance series – as well as performing a special musical number during a Sunday night results show.
And while we’re not sure how Bruno Tonioli, Craig Revel-Horwood, Len Goodman and Darcey Bussell will cope with another set of opinions to contend with, the contestants will definitely be hoping for a sympathetic eye, as Osmond won the USA’s Strictly equivalent Dancing in the Stars in 2009.
“It’s a huge honour to be asked to guest judge on Strictly Come Dancing,” says Osmond.
“I know what it’s like to hold that trophy in your hand and believe me, it’s worth all the blood, sweat and tears you put into your dances.
“I’m going to be a tough judge and the contestants are really going to have to give me their all,” he adds.
“Many of our audience will have grown up with Donny Osmond and it’s a joy to welcome him to the show for a very special one-off guest appearance alongside our regular judging panel,” says Executive Producer Louise Rainbow.
“Having won Dancing with the Stars himself, Donny knows what it takes to win that trophy and we all look forward to hearing his comments.”
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC1 on Friday at 9.00pm
