We know that Johnny Depp’s back for the next Pirates of the Carribbean film – but it’s looking like one of his old co-stars may be re-boarding the franchise too.
Yes, apparently Orlando Bloom (last seen as stroppy elf Legolas in The Hobbit) may return as plucky blacksmith Will Turner, after sitting out the fourth film in the franchise, On Stranger Tides.
Speaking at Comic-con Australia, Bloom said: “There have certainly been some discussions about it and I’m open to it. That whole experience working with Johnny and (director) Gore (Verbinski) was really amazing for me.
“One of the reasons I jumped at the opportunity was because Johnny was involved.”
“I was such a massive fan of Johnny Depp growing up so to get up close and personal to Johnny and see how he worked as an actor was just a massive gift.”
But fans hoping for a reunion between Bloom and his co-star Keira Knightley (who played Elizabeth Swann in the series) will be disappointed – “I think that ship has sailed,” she said yesterday at the Toronto International Film Festival yesterday.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is due to be released in 2017, and will star Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow.
