Coronation Street producer Stuart Blackburn has revealed that Owen’s (Ian Puleston-Davies) ex-wife will soon be arriving in Weatherfield to shake up life in the Armstrong/Windass house.
“Owen’s ex-wife will be showing up soon,” said the show’s boss. “The picture that’s already been painted of her by Owen is that she was too young and couldn’t cope with Izzy’s disability. But that turns out not to be the whole truth and this woman has genuine regrets about what happened – the biggest one being leaving Owen!”
Builder Owen has already experienced a tumultuous 2014 thanks to financial problems that have led to bankruptcy and a crisis in his relationship with partner Anna (Debbie Rush). This autumn’s plotlines will also see Anna’s 12-year-old daughter Faye (Ellie Leach) discover that she’s pregnant. Now, the arrival of Owen’s former wife looks set to cause fresh difficulties.
Speaking to Inside Soap, Blackburn added: “Her arrival is going to be a real challenge for Anna and the Armstrongs, and it will give Katy some big choices to make. We’re casting that role in the next few weeks.”
