The Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant with her second child, Clarence House have confirmed.
William and Kate – who already have a son George, born 13 months ago – will add another member to their family, with a statement announcing that the Queen and the members of both families are “delighted” by the news.
“Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their second child.
The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.”
Prime Minister David Cameron has already tweeted to congratulate the royals on their news.
Many congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. I’m delighted by the happy news that they’re expecting another baby.
The statement also confirmed that Kate is suffering from the same acute morning sickness that affected the early stages of her pregnancy with George:
“As with her first pregnancy, The Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum. Her Royal Highness will no longer accompany The Duke of Cambridge on their planned engagement in Oxford today. The Duchess is being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace.”
