We’ve waited on tenterhooks for weeks while the new Strictly Come Dancing celebrities were revealed, famous face by famous face, and now they are all but ready to start competing for the most elegant footwork and polished smiles on the dancefloor.
The launch episode, which saw Bruce Forsyth hand over to new Saturday night presenting duo Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman, introduced each of the eager-eyed celebrities to their professional partners, leaving them with just three weeks of training between them and their first live dances.
“I secretly always wanted Joanne!” said Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills, after meeting his pro Joanne Clifton.
Judy Murray said she was “absolutely delighted” after being paired with Anton du Beke while Gregg Wallace is “chuffed” with his other half Aliona Vilani.
Always a charmer, Blue band member Simon Webbe said, “Come here, babe! We’re the happy couple”, to his new partner Kristina Rihanoff.
And former TOWIE star Mark Wright revealed he is “buzzing” after being paired with Karen Hauer, adding: “I need someone who isn’t going to be too harsh, someone friendly and patient!”
