Head to Penarth in Wales this Friday and you may pick up a piece of television or film history. Original Doctor Who, Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi posters, plus a Magical Theory book from the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, will be up for grabs on the day.

Other classic movie posters, some dating back to the 1930s, will include Indiana Jones Raiders of the Lost Arc and Last Crusade posters, Jaws, Gone With The Wind, Monty Python’s Life of Brian, Ghostbusters, Superman, and Mary Poppins posters.

Auctioneer Ben Rogers Jones has priced each lot between £30 and £600. Collectors can pick up a Flash Gordon or Return of the Jedi poster from between £30-£40, James Bond The Spy Who Loved Me poster for between £40-60 and a Doctor Who and the Daleks poster for between £50-70.

Classic Disney film posters include Dumbo and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and legendary sci-fi, fantasy and horror quads include The Terminator, Krull, Clash of the Titans, Excalibur, Mad Max, The Shining and Ghostbusters.

Sean Connery, Johnny Depp, Brigitte Bardot, Sharon Stone and John Wayne signed photos and books will also be sold on the day, ranging between £40-£400 in price.

“The ones we expect to do the best are the Star Wars posters because there is such a strong field of collectors out there,” explained auctioneer Ben Rogers Jones to Wales Online.

“We expect a very good turnout at the auction. I also imagine there will be a lot of online bidding going on as well.”

The most unusual item in the collection is a prop book from the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone film, expected to sell for around £400-£600. If you can’t make it all the way to Wales on Friday, it’s possible to bid online. See below for images of some of the items up for grabs.
