Naked Game of Thrones 5 walk is banned in Dubrovnik

Cersei Lannister is set to roam through the streets in her birthday suit as penance, but the production is delayed after Croatian authorities put a stop to the scene

[Spoiler alert] Cersei Lannister’s walk of shame is a major part and dramatic highlight of Game of Thrones season 5, which follows George R.R. Martin’s A Dance with Dragons, but local authorities in Roman Catholic Croatia have denied a shooting permt, due to the public nudity involved in the scene.

Cast and crew are still trying to work out a way around the block on filming, even though Lena Headey (who plays Cersei) is fully prepared to act in the buff. The naked walk will come after Cersei’s rise to power, following Tyrion Lannister killing his father Tywin. However, Cersei gets her long-overdue comeuppance after she attempts to frame Margaery Tyrell for adultery.

Cersei is jailed, pending trial, and has to shame herself by walking naked from the Great Sept to the Red Keep, with a bald head. The crew were planning to set the exciting scene up from Dubrovnik Cathedral to Sponza Palace and fill the two-mile distance with 500 extras, who would be shouting vulgarities at Cersei as she walks. Now they’ll have to come up with a plan B.

The Game of Thrones production recently shot scenes in Northern Ireland at a two-mile stretch of beach in Londonderry, and the team will begin filming in Dubrovnik in late September and are set to wrap in mid-October.
