Doctor Who episode 2 synopsis teases that the Doctor “could change the Daleks forever”

"Will he find the answer to the question, Am I a good man?"

The synopsis for Into the Dalek, episode two of Peter Capaldi’s debut Doctor Who series, has been released – and it looks like there are big decisions ahead for the Time Lord.

Written by Phil Ford, who penned 2010 special The Waters of Mars, the adventure will see the Doctor once again confronting his greatest foe: his conscience.

“A Dalek fleet surrounds a lone rebel ship, and only the Doctor can help them now… with the Doctor facing his greatest enemy, he needs Clara by his side.

“Confronted with a decision that could change the Daleks forever he is forced to examine his conscience. Will he find the answer to the question, am I a good man?”

Could we be seeing a similar dilemma to that faced by Tom Baker’s fourth Doctor in Genesis of the Daleks, where he had to decide between genocide and the Daleks living on? Only time will tell.

The episode will air on 30th August, with a time yet to be confirmed. It will be preceded by series eight opener Deep Breath, which will premiere on BBC1 on 23rd August at the later-than-usual time of 7:50pm.
