A new teaser trailer for Oscar-tipped Foxcatcher has been released.
Directed by Oscar-nominated Bennett Miller (Moneyball, Capote), the story follows Olympic wrestling champion Mark Schultz (Channing Tatum) and the dark, destructive relationship he has with his multimillionaire paranoid schizophrenic coach John du Pont (Steve Carell).
The highly anticipated film also stars Mark Ruffalo, Vanessa Redgrave, Sienna Miller and Anthony Michael Hall.
A previous teaser trailer was released when the film screened at Cannes this year, which sparked the buzz surrounding the film as an early Oscar contender.
And for good reason.
Despite being out of their usual elements of romance and comedy, Tatum and Carell fit in like drama is all they’ve done.
In the trailer, Carell is almost unrecognisable. He speaks with a tired raspy voice, and ageing face is topped with greying short hair. Tatum is also constantly slapping his face red and ramming his head into dangerous objects.
Tatum’s character speaks in part of the trailer: “I wanna be the best in the world. I wanna go to World to win gold.” And come awards season, the film’s cast and crew might just win their own gold.
