Black Mass will hit US cinema screens on 18 September 2015, Warner Bros. has announced, with the film expected to travel across the pond to the UK soon after.

Directed by Scott Cooper, the movie is based on the book Black Mass: Whitey Bulger, the FBI and a Devil’s Deal, by Dick Lehr and Gerard O’Neill and also features Kevin Bacon, Dakota Johnson, Juno Temple, Joel Edgerton, Jesse Plemons and Adam Scott.

Currently filming in the town of Lynn, Massachusetts, Black Mass follows the real-life story of Whitey who headed up a violent gang while simultaneously informing on his rivals to the FBI – actions his brother William claimed to be unaware of.
