Tom Cruise Star Wars cameo rumours are pure science fiction

The Mission: Impossible actor won’t be appearing in JJ Abrams’s Episode VII film, his representative confirms

Depite widespread rumours, Tom Cruise won’t be making a cameo appearance in director JJ Abrams’s Star Wars VII film next year.

Pause for theatrical ‘ahhh’.

The Mission: Impossible star set tongues wagging after he was spotted in London having dinner with Abrams, who has reunited original cast members Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and the currently injured Harrison Ford.

But Cruise’s representative has since said the rumours are false, telling Entertainment Tonight Canada it’s “pure fiction”.

Abrams and Cruise have professional history, with the director having produced Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol and returning for the upcoming fifth instalment.

Both films are for being partly filmed in the UK, with Star Wars at Pinewood Studios and the Impossible cast shooting scenes inside the British Parliament. It seemed like a good time for the actor to drop in for a cameo, but alas, no such luck.
