Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes in talks to star in the Coen brothers’ Hail, Caesar!

The trio are in negotiations to join George Clooney and Josh Brolin in a film about a “1950s-era Hollywood fixer”

Channing Tatum, Tilda Swinton and Ralph Fiennes are reportedly in talks to join George Clooney and Josh Brolin in Joel and Ethan Coen’s latest project Hail, Caesar!

The ’50s-era film follows a Hollywood fixer named Eddie Mannix (played by either Clooney or Brolin, says The Hollywood Reporter) whose job it is to keep his boss’s clients out of the gossip columns.

Tatum, whose previous roles include him dancing around half-naked in Magic Mike and Step Up, would fittingly play a “Gene Kelly-type star” while Fiennes would play a studio director and Swinton a “powerful Hollywood gossip columnist”.

Swinton’s recent CV additions include The Grand Budapest Hotel and Snowpiercer. She’s a veteran Coen collaborator having been in Burn After Reading with Clooney, but this is a first for Fiennes and Tatum. Fiennes also starred alongside Swinton in The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Tatum can now be seen on screen as an undercover officer in the comedy 22 Jump Street. For an actor who typically plays a rom-com heartthrob, it’ll be quite a change (a good one, hopefully) to see how he’ll get along in the Coens’ golden age Hollywood.
