Bear Grylls to take Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan into the wild

After Stephen Fry’s adventure in the mountains with the former SAS soldier last year, more celebrities have signed up for a survival challenge

Bear Grylls: Celebrity Survivor will see famous faces including Liverpudlian comic John Bishop, Corrie actress Michelle Keegan and Olympic athlete Jessica Ennis-Hill go on an outdoor adventure in a remote part of the world.

In Bear’s Wild Weekend, the action man took Stephen Fry outside his comfort zone, into the harsh Italian Dolomites. The pair had to carve out the heart and tongue of a deer carcass for their lunch, start a fire with a tampon and create a water bottle out of a condom during the show.

Jonathan Ross and Miranda Hart also took part, and it seems more stars have been inspired to follow suit. However, with an I’m a Celebrity-style twist, the stars on new show Celebrity Survivor will have to compete against one another in order to stay in the camp – only the strongest will survive.

McBusted singer Matt Willis and Loose Women presenter Lisa Maxwell will also join the celebs roughing it in the competition. There will be no luxuries in this show; like there are in I’m a Celebrity…

The contestants will have to set up camps during the challenge and deal with each new environment they find themselves in, until they are voted off at the campfire each night.

“This is going to push the celebrities to their limits and make I’m a Celebrity look like a walk in the park,” an inside source told The Daily Star.

“But it’s not about strength, it’s about survival, which means brains over brawn.”

The new series will be filmed in early 2015, and will air shortly after.
