Keira Knightley is a lucky lady. She’s got a knight in shining armour to defend her in the form of her Imitation Game co-star Benedict Cumberbatch…
The 29-year-old actress recently recalled a member of the press saying something rude to her at an event also attended by the Sherlock star – a comment that prompted him to fly to her defence and “joke-punch” the reporter.
“When I saw [Benedict] again, I said, ‘Did you punch a journalist?'” Knightley told the new issue of Elle UK. “And he was like, ‘I f**king did.’
“Everybody needs a friend like that,” she added. Indeed, Keira. What we’d give for one…
The pair have known each other for years, starring in 2007’s Atonement and already creating awards season buzz ahead of their the upcoming Alan Turing biopic, The Imitation Game, set for release on 14 November. Knightley will no doubt be banking on Cumberbatch’s continued defence when the pair embark on what is sure to be an extensive press tour this autumn.
