From Matthew Crawley to, er, a heroin trafficker. It’s not an obvious career path but then Dan Stevens’ post-Downton Abbey roles have been anything but predictable.
His latest comes in crime thriller A Walk Among the Tombstones – the film he grew that dodgy facial hair for – opposite Liam Neeson, playing Matthew Scudder, an ex-cop-turned-unlicensed detective, who Stevens’ character calls in to help find the person who kidnapped and murdered his wife.
It soon transpires this isn’t the first time the culprits have committed these twisted crimes, and it certainly won’t be the last, unless Scudder tracks them down.
Based on the best-selling books by Lawrence Block and written and directed by Scott Frank (the man behind Minority Report), A Walk Among the Tombstones is released in UK cinemas on 19 September 2014.
