Damian Lewis joins comedy biopic of Shakespeare

The Homeland actor will guest star in Bill, a film from the cast of Horrible Histories and Yonderland exploring the early years of the famous playwright

Family sketch show Horrible Histories is hitting the big screen with Bill, a comedy biopic of William Shakespeare’s early life, and Homeland star Damian Lewis will guest star, reports ScreenDaily.

Although details on Lewis’s part are still unclear, the film already boasts a stellar Horrible Histories/Yonderland collaboration with Laurence Rickard, Simon Farnaby, Mathew Baynton, Martha Howe-Douglas, Ben Willbond and Jim Howick among the cast, each with various guises.

The film itself follows the so-called ‘lost years’ of Shakespeare’s life. He’s a seemingly hopeless lute player with no idea where to go next. He wants to follow his dream, he just doesn’t quite know what that dream is.

“There’s this period where no-one is entirely sure what Shakespeare did,” co-writer Laurence Rickard tells Empire. “And it gives you great license to play around. He’s done everything from contemporary dance to playing lute in a band. He’s never found his calling…”

The film is slated for February 2015, but we bargain we’ll be singing the film’s songs until 20,015…
