Star Wars VII: Secrets from filming revealed

The blockbuster sci-fi flick is set to take place in the UAE desert for the whole of May

Officials are protecting the secretive shoot base in the Abu Dhabi desert from curious Star Wars fans, according to English-language newspaper The National.

Sources revealed that a “whole world” has been built in a salt lake in one of the filming locations. Meanwhile, a “shuttle-like” spaceship, tower and “big, centuries-old-looking market”, known as the “alien house” have also been constructed.

A large amount of explosives have also allegedly been brought to the site, which would indicate that some kind of chase, battle or crash scene will take place here.

Yahoo has managed to track down a photo of potential props to be used during filming. It reported the sightings of an AT AT (All Terrain Armored Transport) foot being wheeled out of a marquee in the Abu Dhabi desert.

Cast members in the seventh part of the franchise will include Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson and others joining original cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill.

British actors in the movie will include Attack the Block’s John Boyega, Daisy Ridley of Channel 4’s Youngers, Lord of the Rings’ Andy Serkis, and Domhnall Gleeson from Anna Karenina.

Star Wars VII is due in cinemas in December 2015.
