What is it? The thinking person’s talent show, in which amateur bakers compete for the accolade of being Britain’s best. It’s genteel and awfully British but, although there’s strictly no back-stabbing, the competition is gripping. Oh, and it’s pun central. There are jugs, lovely sausages and soggy bottoms all over the place. In fact, series four even managed to get #soggybottom trending on Twitter. Impressive, no?
Who’s in it? Presented by Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins, and judged by floury sex god Paul Hollywood and the irrepressibly twinkly Mary Berry
Where is it? The last series was on BBC2, but it’s moving to BBC1 this year.
Highlight? Well, there was the great custard sabotage. And the time Mel elbowed poor Howard’s muffins. Oh, are we just supposed to pick one?
