Jake Johnson is swapping his New Girl loft apartment for a trip to Isla Nublar and his roomate-turned-girlfriend Jess for some very hungry dinosaurs.
That’s right, the New Girl actor, who plays Nick Miller in the hit sitcom, is set to star in the upcoming Jurassic Park reboot, Jurassic World.
35-year-old Johnson was the focus of some casting rumours last year, after he starred in Safety Not Guaranteed, a comedy from director Colin Trevorrow, who is at the helm of the new Jurassic Park film.
And he’s now confirmed that he’ll be taking part.
In an interview with The Huffington Post, Johnson was asked whether he became involved in Jurassic World because of Trevorrow, and he replied:
“Absolutely. Now, I’m also a huge fan of Jurassic Park. When I was growing up and Jurassic Park came out, I freaked out like every other kid. I was born in 78, so I was, like, 12. If it wasn’t Colin and someone said they wanted me in Jurassic Park, I would jump on it. The fact that it’s Colin, written by Derek Connolly [who wrote Safety Not Guaranteed) and both those guys are personal friends, I’d go through a wall.”
Trevorrow has since appeared to have confirmed Johnson’s involvement on Twitter, saying, “So we’re doing this, huh?”
Jake Johnson will be joining Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Irrfan Khan and Vincent D’Onofrio in the film.
Jurassic World will hit cinemas in June 2015.
