Game Of Thrones: Teacher stuns class into silence with threats of spoilers

A Belgian maths teach has come up with a novel alternative to detention...

Detention? Lines? Ten laps around the playground? Pah! One teacher has devised the ultimate punishment for unruly pupils: Game Of Thrones spoilers.

After becoming fed up with their behaviour, a Belgian maths teacher reportedly threatened to use his knowledge of George RR Martin’s books- currently two books ahead of the TV adaptation – to tell students which TV characters will die in the future of the HBO series.

A student revealed on his blog that, “My maths teacher is a genius. Basically there was a lot of noise in the room and on several occasions the teacher asked us to keep quiet. At one point he became tired, he stopped and asked the classroom who was watching and three quarters of the room put their hands up.”

“I’ve read all the books,” he told the class. “If there is too much noise, I will write the name of the dead on the board. They are enough to fill the whole year and I can even describe how they die.”

According to Belgium newspaper Niewsblad, he then  began to write on the board all those who had died in the third series. Silence fell before he got to the deaths of series four – due to air on April 7 on Sky Atlantic.

The student added, “I can tell you there was a religious silence during the last lesson.”
