Disney Channel teams up with makers of TOWIE and Hollyoaks for first UK production

Lime Pictures will produce the "multi-part movie" called Evermoor

Disney Channel is the mastermind behind hits such as High School Musical, which gave us Zac Efron’s breakout role, and Hannah Montana, the show that introduced the world to pre-twerking Miley Cyrus.

For its newest network film, the US cable channel has decided to team up with Lime Pictures, the production company behind The Only Way is Essex and Hollyoaks, to make Disney Channel’s first-ever live action UK production.

So will Mickey Mouse be frequenting clubs in Essex and start walking the fictional streets of Hollyoaks now? Well, not quite.

The film will be called Evermoor and is billed as a multi-part mystery adventure movie stretching over four 30-minute sections. The movie will follow an American teen who is relocated to England. She moves into the spooky Evermoor Manor, where she comes across a tapestry that magically tells the future.

Evermoor, which will air in the US this autumn, will be shot at Arley Hall in Cheshire. The house has previously been used in Hollyoaks,The Forsyte Saga and Coronation Street.

Filming is set to start in April, and casting has not yet been finalised. Here’s to hoping whoever gets cast as the main character doesn’t take any career advice from Miley Cyrus…
